This will be an informal discussion presenting a perception of the economic and political landscape existing between Universities and the market place. Focusing specifically on the role Arts Schools currently play in defining this relationship.

Tao Wells is an unemployed artist that in the last 5 years has been invited to present 13 solo shows, 11 performances and 14 group shows. Before that he taught art and design at Massey University. In 2010 he created the Wells Group, a team that performed The Beneficiary's Office as part of CNZ's Letting Space Series. Last week the Wells Group launched The Happy Bene, the film by Dick Whyte, documenting The Beneficiary’s Office.
Richard Meros is a Wellington based writer and senior member of the Lawrence & Gibson Publishing Collective. He is the author of six books including On the conditions and possibilities of Helen Clark taking me as her Young Lover (2005; 2008), Richard Meros salutes the Southern Man (2007) and Privatising Parts (2011). He is interested in macro-economics, austerity, love and the uses of cynical reason.
